7th Bromley Cubs Renew their Promise at Westminster Abbey

Date: 19th Dec 2016 Author: Scout Websites

The 16th December 2016 was the 100th anniversary of Cub Scouting, and Cubs the world over were urged to remake their Promise on this day, at the same time, in a special location.
Many of 7th Bromley’s Cubs visited Westminster Abbey to achieve this, standing to attention in front of the Baden- Powell memorial, with the added blessing of prayers by the duty chaplain. The Cubs will remember this ceremony for the rest of their lives. Everyone present said that It was indeed an unforgettable & quite poignant moment.
What a privilege indeed!
The ceremony was held in Westminster Abbey last Friday evening – certainly unique in its history! – which was only possible thanks to the generous permission of the Dean.image001

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
