St Georges Day Parade 2017

Date: 26th Apr 2017 Author: Scout Websites

The weather stayed dry on Sunday 23rd April (St Georges Day) and in the order of 1,000 members of Bromley District and their families paraded through West Wickham to Blakes Park Recreation Ground where they renewed their promise and a number of Awards were presented by the Mayor of Bromley (Councillor Ian Payne) & Nick Crowe the County Commissioner.

It was also a delight as Gary Peppiatt the District Commissioner welcomed members of the 1st Beckenham South (Christchurch) the newly formed Group in the District to their first St Georges Day Parade and invested Sheila Howard as Group Scout Leader.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
